The Outer Rim Bicycle Shop

I tried!!! I assembled the front wheel of my BRAND NEW ebike wrong and took it in to be adjusted. They charged me $110. I asked them how much would they charge to assemble a 85% assembled bike that Youtubers put together in 30 minutes? I was quoted between $150-200 which is outrageous. If they would have charged me $50 or $60 cool...but $110 to fix a front wheel? They just lost my business.

This is a wonderful shop. The owner is very knowledgeable in the bike industry and cares deeply about what brands and items are sold on the sales floor. Every time I shop here I always feel as though the employees have my best interests at heart. It’s difficult to find a bike shop that’s honest these days. The Outer Rim has an awesome selection, great repair service, and well versed employees (actual cyclists) ready to help you with all your bicycle needs!

We stopped by today to check out a couple if ebikes first hand. We had a nice chat learned some things, then the fun part. We put our butts on seats. The ride around the parking lot. We were hooked. I did ride a dually (a motor on each axle) which was an amazing bike. I opted for the same model as my wife, but her's is a step through. I would highly recommend this shop for attentiveness, customer service, knowlege and selection.

We were interested in buying an Aventon Pace 500.3 eBike. Found out that the Outer Rim Bicycle Shop (10640 NE Halsey St) sells this bike. Sadly, when we went to this shop we couldn’t get any printed information about the final cost of the eBike we selected -- with added fenders and a rear rack. Being on fixed income (I’m 83 years old), we also couldn’t get any printed information listing what this bike shop charges to service this eBike during the first year of ownership. (They claimed that they offer up to $500 in free services -- that could not be substantiated in writing). And, despite Aventon’s website specifying Free Returns during the first 14 days, with no restocking fees, this bike shop insisted that a hefty undisclosed restocking fee will be assessed by Aventon if we return the eBike during the first 14 days. All in all, we wasted more than an hour trying to get substantiated printed information from the Outer Rim Bicycle Shop, and getting a printed agreed-upon estimate on what we would pay for the Aventon Pace 500.3 eBike we selected. Sadly, this is the only shop that purportedly sells and services Aventon in Portland, Oregon. So we decided to buy another brand of eBikes.
